WATCH // Bleached Tear Through “Wednesday Night Melody” on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’

For the better part of this year, Bleached have been road warriors (hitting countless cities) in support of their sophomore album, Welcome The Worms. Last week, the band announced a fall, co-headlining tour with Beach Slang, and last night, they brought their lead radio single, “Wednesday Night Melody”, to Late Night with Seth Meyers. Aptly described by NPR Music,

“’Wednesday Night Melody’ perfectly captures the spirit of young adulthood. . . Bleached’s furious and fun sound, mixed with a slacker vibe, invites you to enjoy your youthful worries while they last.”

Passionately amped to crush it on national TV (on a Wednesday night, no less!), the ladies put on a killer presentation, further proving why radio stations across the country are keeping Bleached on heavy rotation. Catch Bleached on the road in the months to come! All tour dates are below, including a slew of newly added dates.

Bonus! Jessie Clavin recently spoke with Deli Magazine about the pedals she uses, hop on over to check it out!

WATCH // Ryley Walker Shares “The Roundabout” Video

Feeling a little sluggish? That mid-week slump hitting you square in the jaw? Well, we’re here to give you a bit of an escape. Not us, but rather Ryley Walker! Today he’s unveiled the video for his latest single “The Roundabout”, directed, filmed and edited by Joe Martinez Jr. and taken from his upcoming album Golden Sings that Have Been Sung, out August 19 on Dead Oceans. When asked about the video’s content, Ryley explains,

“Fourth of July in Pilsen is the height of summer in Chicago.” He goes on, “Dozens of crews with ad hoc explosives and a beer in hand make for a blitzkrieg celebration. I lived at 21st/Leavitt some years back and got to know this evening first hand very well. Forever my favorite part of summer in the city. This video hopefully captures a few of those moments of joy from the people involved.”

So dig out those fireworks you’ve got left over and press play on Ryley Walker’s latest clip. If you haven’t already, you can claim your copy of Ryley Walker’s Golden Sings That Have Been Sung via: Dead Oceans (that’s us), iTunes, Amazon, or your local indie shop!

Other Music Forever

Other Music means so much to so many. Its place in history, be it personal or that of music itself, is unquestionable. Today is the last day before Other Music permanently shutters its doors. Dead Oceans co-founder, Phil Waldorf, spent many years behind the counter at this New York institution and wanted to share his personal history with the store:

I once worked at the best record store in the world. New York’s Other Music stoked my passion for sharing new and exciting music with customers, coworkers and friends, and planted the seed for me to want to run a record label. I am totally heartbroken that after 20 years, Other Music is closing.

Other Music was the first job I had when I moved to New York City, back in an era before iTunes and iPhones and streaming music. I worked there until the day I left New York City, and it informed so much of who I am today. Working there fed my passion for music and inspired an entrepreneurial spirit I never knew I had. I met my future business partners in Dead Oceans when I worked there. I met my wife there. Needless to say, my life would be very different without Other Music.

I owe a tremendous amount to Chris and Josh, co-owners of Other Music, and I feel lucky that they remain friends and mentors. Other Music’s passionate focus on new music discovery might never be replicated, and as an industry and as record buyers, we’re worse off in a world without it. I feel endlessly lucky to have spent time there, and the least I can do is say thank you for everything. It was an incredible run. Other Music Forever, indeed.
